SBR Rubber Sheets with Fabric Inserts
Commonly known in the industry as general-purpose rubber sheets, these are standard, smooth rubber sheets additionally reinforced with a cotton mesh embedded inside. The cotton insert is used to strengthen the sheet’s physical and mechanical properties and, most importantly, to prevent deformation and wrinkling or waving of the rubber sheet in which it is embedded.
Various types of reinforcing fabrics are available on the market, with cotton and nylon being the most common. In the case of SBR sheets offered by SCP, the reinforcement is always a woven cotton mesh. SCP offers SBR rubber sheets with single, double, or even triple layers of cotton inserts reinforcements.
SBR rubber sheets are a fundamental product of the modern rubber industry. Vulcanized from styrene-butadiene rubber, they are manufactured in sheets of various thicknesses (from 1 to 50 mm), which are typically rolled up into rolls. The common name for these sheets reflects their frequent presence in many areas of life as the most popular and widely used type of synthetic reclaimed rubber.
Standard rolls available on the market are typically 1.2 meters wide. SCP also offers rolls in widths ranging from 1.0 to 1.6 meters.
Designed for use in chemically neutral environments, SBR rubber sheets are used across virtually all branches of industry. They represent an economical alternative to wear-resistant rubber sheets. Non-absorbent in nature, they provide good base material for producing static components such as pads, bumpers, spacers, plow blades, scrapers, and protective covers or aprons in the mining industry.
SBR rubber sheets can also be used as finished products. They are often used as rubber mats on workbenches, cable shields, rubber for shot blasting chambers, or as floor and surface linings in warehouses and production halls. SBR rubber is also used for wall fill-ins and soundproofing, protective, and anti-slip components. When reinforced with fabric inserts, they are used, for example, as components in compactors or agricultural machinery.
SBR sheets can also serve as semi-finished products for the manufacture of seals, gaskets, pads, aprons, plow blades, plugs, and bumpers.
Individual customers often use SBR rubber sheets as protective material to prevent damage to work surfaces, such as workbench tops or garage and basement floors. These rubber sheets can also serve as an economical material for protecting and soundproofing workshop furniture—such as shelves, drawers, and racks—reducing tool impact noise while protecting surfaces.
SBR rubber sheets are intended for indoor use and should not be exposed to strong sunlight or ozone. They are not resistant to acids, alkalis, or petroleum-based products.
