Ryfel wąski (Narrow rib) TPE flooring – ribbed thermoplastic elastomer
Narrow Rib TPE is a flooring with a fine, dense ribbed pattern made from a thermoplastic elastomer instead of traditional SBR rubber. This profile forms regular, parallel grooves with a small pitch, which improve traction in both directions of movement and at the same time give the surface a modern, commercial appearance. The product is thermoplastically formed and supplied in rolls of standard lengths and widths, which makes it easy to cut by hand with a utility knife and to adapt to the shape of steps, walkways or narrow traffic routes.
Narrow Rib TPE flooring performs particularly well on steps, service platforms, in entrance areas and technical corridors, where combining user safety with an aesthetically pleasing surface finish is important. The thermoplastic elastomer provides better resistance to weathering and moisture than standard SBR rubber, while also offering good grip in damp environments. Compared to classic rubber flooring, the TPE version usually has a lower surface weight and a more neutral or milder odour. Narrow Rib TPE flooring is an industrial‑grade product – immediately after unpacking a noticeable material odour may be present, which gradually fades over time with adequate ventilation of the room.
Application conditions and limitations
The TPE compound used in Narrow Rib flooring provides good resistance to mechanical wear and favourable performance within a typical operating temperature range for workshop and facility applications (usually from around -20°C to +70°C, depending on the specific compound). Although thermoplastic elastomers show increased resistance to moisture and many cleaning agents, they are not completely chemically inert – for planned long‑term contact with aggressive media or strong chemicals, it is recommended to carry out a trial under actual service conditions and to follow the manufacturer’s guidance. In areas with very high wheeled traffic or exposed to intense point loads, it is advisable to consider permanently bonding the flooring to the substrate in order to increase safety and surface stability.
