Molet flooring (round dot) – solid NBR rubber
Molet rubber flooring made from solid NBR rubber is a specialised floor covering with a surface finished in a distinctive round-stud pattern (molet, coin, “metro”). It is a vulcanised product, supplied in rolls of standard lengths and widths, easy to cut by hand with a utility knife and to adapt to the shape of rooms, traffic routes or workstations. The base material is a nitrile‑butadiene rubber (NBR) compound – an oil‑resistant rubber – which makes this flooring a suitable solution for industrial and technical indoor applications where there is a risk of contact with oils, greases or fuels.
Molet NBR flooring effectively dampens vibrations and noise, improves walking comfort and reduces the risk of footwear slipping thanks to its raised studded surface. It performs well as a finish for concrete floors in workshops, service back rooms, machine service areas, industrial halls or garages where the floor may come into contact with petroleum‑based products. It can also be used as a material for worktops, storage surfaces and shelves, where in addition to protection against scratches, increased resistance to oil contamination is required. Molet NBR flooring is an industrial‑grade product – immediately after unpacking a noticeable rubber odour may be present, which gradually fades over time with adequate ventilation of the room.
Application conditions and limitations
The NBR rubber used in Molet flooring is intended for service in environments where oils, fuels and greases may be present; however, its resistance to specific media depends on the type of substance, exposure time and operating conditions. Despite its good oil resistance, the material is not resistant to long‑term exposure to weathering, ozone and UV radiation, so the flooring should be used mainly indoors or in sheltered areas. The standard operating temperature range of NBR rubber is similar to that of classic NBR sheets and is approximately -20°C to +70°C; for applications close to the limits of this range, it is recommended to carry out a trial under actual service conditions and verify how the material behaves in contact with the specific substance.
