Black rubber paving blocks – elastic “behaton” / “dog bone” surface
SCP Select rubber paving blocks are modular surface elements made from SBR rubber granulate bonded with a polyurethane binder. The blocks have a characteristic behaton shape, commonly referred to in English as a “dog bone”, and are an alternative to traditional concrete pavers wherever, in addition to appearance, shock absorption, quieter operation and improved traction are required. A single block typically measures at least 190 × 160 × 40 mm, with a thickness of 40 mm ± 3 mm and a weight of around 1 kg per piece.
The product is manufactured from SBR rubber regranulate combined with a flexible polyurethane binder, which provides good abrasion resistance, elasticity and dimensional stability within a typical operating temperature range from −20 to +70 °C. The blocks are available in several colours, including black, green and red, allowing the creation of clear functional zones, marked walkways or simple decorative patterns. Thanks to the anti‑slip properties of rubber and its ability to absorb impacts, rubber paving is well suited for pedestrian zones, around sports facilities, on playgrounds, terraces, access paths and walkways.
Rubber paving blocks are also used in animal facilities – particularly in stables, stable corridors, and on walkways and lead‑out paths for horses. The elastic, slightly resilient surface reduces the risk of slipping, decreases joint impact loads and improves the overall comfort of movement for animals, while being quieter and more forgiving than hard concrete floors.
Paving blocks made from regranulate are weather‑resistant and can be used outdoors, provided that the sub‑base is prepared correctly and drainage is ensured. The product does not contain substances classified as hazardous under current regulations. The blocks can be transported using standard transport methods, protected against mechanical damage, and should be stored in dry, well‑ventilated areas, away from heat sources and direct exposure to weather, to maintain their technical properties over time.
