Fish Bone flooring – solid SBR rubber
Fish Bone SCP Select is a solid SBR rubber flooring with a distinctive herringbone (fish bone) surface pattern formed by diagonal, alternating ribs running along the surface. This texture creates a dense network of contact points with footwear, providing very good traction both along and across the direction of movement, while giving the surface a modern, technical appearance. The product is vulcanised and supplied in rolls with standard dimensions (3 mm thickness, 1.2 m width, 10 m length), making it easy to cut by hand with a utility knife and to adapt to the shape of rooms, traffic routes and workstations.
The base of Fish Bone flooring is a styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) compound – a general purpose rubber – combining good mechanical resistance with an attractive cost level. The flooring helps to dampen vibrations and noise, improves walking comfort and effectively protects the substrate against abrasion and point impacts. It is particularly suitable for entrance areas, technical corridors, platforms and walkways, as well as workshop and warehouse floors where high traction and surface durability are required. Fish Bone flooring can also be used in vehicle cargo areas as an anti slip floor protection. It is an industrial grade product – immediately after unpacking a noticeable rubber odour may be present, which gradually fades over time with adequate ventilation of the room.
Application conditions and limitations
The SBR rubber used in Fish Bone flooring is intended for use in chemically neutral environments and is not resistant to continuous contact with oils, fuels, greases or aggressive chemicals. Long term exposure to such media may cause swelling, hardening or cracking of the material; for these applications, floorings based on special compounds (e.g. NBR or TPE) should be considered. The material is not designed for prolonged exposure to UV radiation, ozone and weathering, so the flooring is recommended mainly for indoor use or sheltered areas.
Within a typical operating temperature range of approximately -20°C to +70°C, Fish Bone flooring maintains stable basic mechanical properties; for applications close to the limits of this range, it is advisable to test a sample under actual service conditions. In high traffic zones, especially with wheeled traffic, permanently bonding the flooring to the substrate will improve surface stability, user safety and the overall service life of the product.
